Our Guidelines

Warburtons is proud of its heritage of community giving and involvement and supports charities, organisations and initiatives that improve the quality of family life.

The company invites applications for financial support and product donations and will also consider other requests, such as sponsorship.

Where a financial donation is being applied for, the company requests that the money is used to fund a specific need or project. Financial support will not be awarded to assist ongoing fund-raising activity.

Providing each application fulfils the criteria stated in the Policy and Guidelines, a charity or organisation will not be precluded from making an additional application in a successive year, whether or not the initial application has been successful.

Unfortunately, the company is not able to accept every request for support. Therefore, the programme does not support charities, organisations, initiatives or individuals in the following areas:

  • Those that are of a political or religious nature;
  • Involve animal welfare – except where they positively improve the quality of life of a sick, elderly or disabled person, such as Guide Dogs;
  • Associated with addiction or criminal rehabilitation;
  • Individuals seeking personal funding for academic fees;
  • Professional sportsmen/women or organisations. However, the programme does support amateur sportsmen/women and organisations in sports that are accessible to a majority audience;
  • Third party fundraisers. That is, the programme aims to provide direct support to charities, organisations, individuals or initiatives as opposed to individuals fundraising on their behalf (with the exception of Warburtons employees, customers or suppliers).

Warburtons has a Community Giving Policy and examples of the company’s community involvement includes two long-standing commitments, firstly to Bolton Lads’ and Girls’ Club and secondly, to its own School Visitor programme.

Bolton Lads’ and Girls’ has existed since 1899 providing an affordable facility for the children of the town to use and enjoy. It is the largest organisation of its kind outside of central London and has over 4,000 members. Warburtons is proud to have supported the Club for over 10 years and Ross Warburton is also President of the Club.

Warburtons employs 16 people across the business to implement a programme of school visits, which aim to educate children both about the bread-making process and about the nutritional benefits of bread. Approximately 1,800 schools benefit from the programme every year.

Finally, Warburtons is proud to help local charities and organisations across the UK and invites applications for support.
